History in brief
The intention for founding the new association on April 2, 2000, was to promote and strengthen Pharma Biotechnology in Europe. EAPB wanted to become the missing link between academia, industry and regulatory bodies. So far the founding members represented the entities university and industry. During 2001 EAPB extends its capacity to the regulatory bodies by cooperation with MEGRA (Mid European Society for Regulatory Affairs) and PEFRAS (Pan European Federation of Regulatory Affairs Society) by starting an exclusive cooperation in regulatory pharma biotech affairs.
Already in September 2000 EAPB was partner of the World Congress of Biotechnology in Berlin, being responsible for the programme section ?Pharmaceutical Biotechnology?.
In July 2001 EAPB participated in the 10th European Congress on Biotechnology in Madrid, which was organized by the European Federation of Biotechnology, EFB, and was again responsible for the section ?Pharmaceutical Biotechnology?. This was the ignition to start the cooperation to EFB ? with EAPB being an associated section of the federation covering all aspects about ?Pharma & Medical Biotechnology? in the European Federation of Biotechnology.
In the same year the cooperation with AAPS, the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, started with the special aim to promote regulatory harmonization between Europe and the US.
Since 2002 EAPB has been partner for the biannually World Meeting on Pharmaceutics, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology, PBP, with the partners A.D.R.I.T.E.L.F. (Associazione Docenti e Ricercatori Italiani di Tecnologie e Legislazione Farmaceutiche), APGI (Association de Pharmacie Galénique Industrielle), and APV (Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Pharmazeutische Verfahrenstechnik).
In 2007 (Amsterdam) and 2008 (Heidelberg), EAPB arranged together with EUFEPS (European Federation for Pharmaceutical Sciences) and F.I.P. two workshops on Monoclonal Antibodies and cutting edge advancements in this field.
Since 2008 EAPB has organized additionally its conference ?Science to Market? which is dedicated to promote partnership between academia and industry by enhancing the economical output of basic research and direct them into marketable and biopharmaceutical products. Recent biotechnological developments are introduced to representatives of biotech and pharmaceutical industry.

Nowadays EAPB offers its members the opportunity to join special interest groups, attend EAPB conferences and to be partner in the EAPB network.
